I didn’t intend on making a DIY natural hair pomade. Truly, I did not. This past weekend (Saturday, June 3, 2017) I woke up at 4:45am, did my meditation and wondered as to what I was going to do with my life, naturally. After my early morning musings, I had come to the conclusion that I needed to do my hair… desperately. I had rocked single twists for about two weeks, wore a twistout for a week and was now in my second week of “that bun life”. Not good for the healthy of my hair, or any type of hair journey that I may or may not embark on this month.
Naturally, I debated if I had enough time – at 5am – to detangle, deep condition and style my hair before leaving for band practice at 9:15am. There was time. I checked under the sink and saw my DIY detangler available, this was a good sign. Some of The Innate Life’s Scalp Treatment was left over as well. I was running low on COCOVADO’s Liquid Black Soap, however, I was confident that I would be able to complete the task at hand. Now, the only thing that I needed was a deep conditioner that was moisturizing, creamy and easy to make. Enter my favorite moisturizing DIY deep conditioner of all time. I was now ready to get this show on the road.
But I forgot one major key to the success of my hair: I didn’t have a styler. I had recently run out of COCOVADO’s Cocoa Butter Cream which I have been using for some time now for both my body and hair. I was a little bit miffed. This is what forced my hand to whip up this recipe, quite literally. I was looking for something that would provide me with hold and shine. But I didn’t want so much of it left over as it was just a test. This is what I came up with!
